Motorola will launch a five-city promo tie-in with the Hard Rock Cafe Rockfest this week to drive traffic into AT&T Wireless stores.
Promos for the July 22 event in Chicago, via agency Zipatoni, Chicago, include a Rockfest fan who will camp out on a billboard along interstate 1-294 in Chicago that says "Want to go to Rockfest?" with the fan's phone number on it. Callers can talk to him live or hear a voicemail message for the offer details. The fan will also be featured in radio ads and live on-air discussions with a local radio station.
At the event, the first 80,000 attendees will be given a free phone holster. Motorola and AT&T Wireless will host a large pavilion-style tent where visitors can purchase Motorola merchandise.
Customers who visit the stores in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami and Phoenix receive two Rockfest tickets, a $130 value, with the purchase of a Motorola phone.
